Our Acupuncture Therapist?
At the moment Sarah is offering acupuncture as part of her Osteopathic appointments. Sarah uses myofascial trigger point acupuncture. When a tissue becomes over excitable this causes contraction and stagnation. We need tissues to move including the nervous system and circulatory system. When stagnation occurs, myofascial trigger points accumulate causing pain, dysfunction and limited ranges of movement. Acupuncture tends to work very quickly and combined with Osteoapthic techniques great results can be reached.
Patients report back that it is very therapeutic indeed.
FAQ
Does Acupuncture hurt?
It is very rare for acupuncture to hurt. A dull ache is sometimes reported around the base of where needle is inserted, other reports include a slight tingling feeling when the needle is inserted. Some points such as those at the extremities, such as toes or finger ends, can occasionally be a little sharp, but the sensation is usually brief..
do acupuncture needles get reused ?
No! It is illegal to reuse any type of acupuncture needles in the UK. All acupuncture needles are one-use disposable needles which you will see as they are removed from sealed packaging and disposed of in sharps box for incineration.
How doES acupuncture work ?
According to the NHS, "Western medical acupuncture is the use of acupuncture following a medical diagnosis. It involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles of the body. This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins." source
