5 Types of Exercise you should try this 2020
So another year is upon us and we are generally becoming more aware that maybe exercise is a good idea. So here is a little list of different types of exercise you should have a shot at this year.
1. Social – ooo social? That’s not exercise Jamie I hear you say. Well I say it is. You need to exercise your social life regularly. Now I don’t mean go out raving every weekend likes 1996 all over again. What I mean is set up regular times in your schedule to see friends and do something fun outside of work and family. This could be going for a coffee, going bowling anything that involves you and a friend or friends.
2. Mindfulness/meditation – Practise of living in the moment, being aware of your emotions, the environment around you and allowing yourself to experience it without worry, stress or intention. This can help in those really stress times that challenge us throughout the year.
3. Strength – One of the main reasons we feel old is our lack of strength, things feel heavier and stuff isn’t as easy as it used to be. A large part of this is down to losing strength. This makes everyday task so much easier and life in general. There are many ways to train strength from doing deadlifts in the gym to picking up big rocks in the garden.
4. Movement – This type isn’t about sweating buckets or throwing yourself on the floor until you throw up. This is about exploring what your body can do in a safe way. Think of it as a fun game of twister except you don’t have to hold those crazy poses for 20 minutes. Move in any way that feels good. The only objective here is to move.
5. Cardiovascular – This is to improve the function of your heart and lungs after all they are quite important. Anything that gets the heart beating a little bit quicker and your temperature up a little. Walking, Running, Cycling, Swimming or anything that requires rhythmical, repeated motion.
